One of the most spectacular fish in the ocean, the sailfish is a popular catch-and-release fish that can be caught year-round off the coast of Stuart, Florida. The spring and summer months are when we usually catch a lot of them, but the best sailfish bite in the area is during the winter migration.

Although their average size is around 50 pounds, sailfish weighing as much as 75 pounds have, on a regular basis, been caught. The sailfish begin migrating off the coast of Stuart in October and November, and the best months to catch and release them are in November, December and January, when packs of sailfish travel south to warmer waters.

And when the bite turns on, it’s quite common for us to catch and release up to 5 or 10 sailfish aboard the Whiskey and Wine (Reel ’em In).
